Korea is a country rich in diverse natural beauty, from mountains and seas to forests, caves, tidal flats, and islands. It's no wonder so many idol groups step out of indoor sets to film their music videos amidst refreshing outdoor scenery. Sometimes, these locations are so breathtakingly beautiful that they feel like computer graphics. Let's embark on a unique journey to explore these natural places featured in K-pop music videos.
Byeokchoji Gardens is a botanical garden that combines the cozy charm of Eastern gardens with the grandeur of Western ones. It features captivating spaces like the Eastern-inspired Water Lily Garden, filled with lotus flowers, and the Marly Castle Garden, inspired by medieval European castles. These gardens showcase a blend of Eastern and Western beauty, creating stunning scenery that changes with the seasons. BoA’s Japanese single “Message” cover photos and music video, as well as Apink’s “Petal” music video, were filmed here. You can snap some photos with vibrant energy, just like they did!
Do you remember the scene where Irene and Seulgi are dancing under sparkling lights like stars in the dark cave? Gwangmyeongdonggul Cave, transformed from a mine into a cave-themed park, is where the music video for Red Velvet - Irene & Seulgi's follow-up track "Naughty" from their first mini-album was filmed. The space is an art installation that primarily uses light, and you can even see life-sized displays of Gollum and Gandalf's staff from “The Lord of the Rings,” making you feel like you're in a fantasy movie. On one side of the cave, there’s also Wine Cave, offering a selection of Korean wines, so be sure to explore every corner.
The co-ed group SSAK3 (Yoo Jae-suk, Rain, Lee Hyo-ri), formed through the variety show “Hangout with Yoo,” shook the K-pop world with their song "Beach Again." Upon its release, the track dominated music charts and award shows. The album cover photo and music video were filmed at Hajodae Beach, where the endless blue sea perfectly complements the upbeat melody, catching everyone's attention. Near the beach, you'll find Hajodae Scenic Point, one of the Ten Scenic Views of Yangyang, known for its unique rock formations and pine forest. Be sure to explore it as well!
